Nehal Hashmi Governor of Sindh
Syed Nehal Hashmi is the current governor of Sindh province of Pakistan. He Assumed office on 13th March 2026. He was appointed Governor of Sindh by President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on advice of Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Politicaly he is affiliated with PML-N. On 13 March 2026, Nihal Hashmi took the oath as Governor of Sindh, administered by the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court. He served as a member of the Senate of Pakistan from March 2015 to February 2018. Hashmi served as the adviser on Law, Justice, and Human Rights to the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, from 1997 to 1999. Nihal Hashmi is a seasoned, experienced, and ideological political worker of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) who has always made sacrifices for the party and has shown steadfastness even in difficult circumstances. In February 2018, the Supreme Court of Pakistan found Nihal Hashmi guilty of contempt of court and sentenced him to one month in prison and a fine of 50,000 rupees. He was also disqualified from holding any public office for five years.

Nehal Hashmi born on January 28, 1960, in Karachi Sindh Pakistan. Syed Nihal Hashmi belongs to Karachi and is a well-known lawyer and politician by profession. He is counted among Pakistan’s prominent criminal and constitutional lawyers. He began his practical legal career in the late 1980s. Nihal Hashmi founded his own political organization, All Pakistan Youth League, during his student days and formally began his political career in the 1990s. He joined the Pakistan Muslim League (N) in 1992.
